Click for Google Maps: 210 S. College Ave, Salem, Virginia 24153

Directions from I-81:Take exit 140 (Rt. 311) south.  This will be Thompson Memorial Drive.  Proceed past the intersection of E. Main Street (Rt. 460).  The next intersection is S. College Avenue and the College Lutheran Church is on your left.  Proceed around the church to the rear parking area and enter through the rear door.

Membership Requirements:You are welcome to attend several rehearsals with no obligation, either to listen or participate.  If you decide you would like to become a member, a simple audition will be required.  You should be able to match pitches you hear, “carry a tune” and blend with the chorus members sharing your voice part.  Music reading skill is optional, and assistance in music learning is provided.  There are modest membership dues.  In order for a member to perform with the chorus in public and in contests, it is expected that he make an effort to attend rehearsals and coaching sessions.  Some work outside of regular rehearsals (homework) may be required in order to learn/practice music (from CDs and sheet music that are provided).  We perform in public frequently and hold occasional family style social events.  The Virginia Gentlemen chorus has several key calendar events each year.  We participate in the Southern Division Contest in May and Middle Atlantic District contest in October. In addition, to raise funds for our scholarship program, the chorus puts on a fall show in November and delivers singing valentines (February).  Also several groups of members perform locally at Christmas time.

The Virginia Gentlemen Barbershop Chorus Chord-ially invites all men who enjoy singing to visit with our chorus during regular rehearsals. A Special Guest Night will be held twice a year.  This will be a fun evening of entertainment and introduction to the chorus.  If you are interested, please follow up by contacting Ed Burke.
